David Leopold Haas was born in Germany in 1842.
In 1859, David and his brothers, Martin and Solomon Haas, came to America via the Isthmus of Panama route.
The Bank of Napa

In 1859, at age 17, David Haas clerked for his older brother in a book store.
Later, he operated his own book and stationary store in Napa City.
David Haas became director of the Bank of Napa, an impressive edifice that still stands today in downtown Napa at First and Brown Streets.
Family
David Haas married Francis (Fanny) Squibb.
Together they had two children, Leopold and Munson Haas.
